Clarify the claimed supply history
Retain VIN, original market, body, generation and the seller’s actual company or lease-return description through the China sourcing guide. Ask which period and duty are documented, who controls the car now and which records support the transfer. A business-user label cannot establish a single careful driver or universal maintenance programme. Registration, title and authority remain separate questions. Where information is missing, retain it as unknown. The purchasing comparison should involve actual proposals rather than convert a supply category into a presumed positive inspection result, clean ownership record or guarantee that every receiving requirement has already been satisfied.
Read chronology rather than assumptions about users
Use the mileage and service-history review to compare dates, supported distances, relevant operations and intervention. Retain documented duty where available without inventing an owner profile. Low recorded distance can coexist with inactivity or repeated short use, while higher distance alone does not prove care or neglect. A generic stamp does not establish every applicable operation for the installed system. Keep conflicts open for clarification. The evidence should describe what occurred on this actual car, not infer that all company vehicles are either better maintained or more heavily treated than every privately advertised alternative.
Inspect wear and consequential systems separately
Use the inspection checklist for the fitted powertrain, structure, chassis, cabin and relevant electronics. Cosmetic wear and consequential mechanical findings can have different meanings. A cleaned interior does not certify the installed gearbox, while an attractive replacement wheel package cannot exclude prior duty or relevant impact. Retain applicable assessment and limits. An understandable correction can be valued; an unexplained symptom still needs diagnosis. The offer’s lower price does not close that requirement. Both company-return and alternative candidates need credible current starting boundaries before their prepared amounts become a meaningful comparison rather than a contest between supply descriptions.
Reconcile actual objects and legitimate ownership access
Count keys, documents, suitable tools and agreed equipment through the key and immobiliser guide. Retain legitimate account and service transfer separately from a seller’s working demonstration. Do not propose bypasses or publish private credentials in an enquiry. Original, replacement and missing objects need attributable descriptions. Any agreed preparation should state provider, scope and suitable confirmation. A complete-handover promise cannot replace actual counts. Ask what practical receiving support can be used after arrival. The owner needs a coherent usable starting arrangement, not a car whose demonstrated operation depends on objects or access that will not accompany the purchase.
Value the saving against an examined proposal
Use the price guide to align actual body and powertrain suitability, present examination, known work, handover objects and delivery scope. An unexamined private-sale listing is not automatically clean. Count included corrections once and keep consequential uncertain work conditional. The three-year worksheet can show applicable period assumptions without guaranteed disposal consequences. Do not invent a universal company-use penalty or lease-return discount. A supported saving can justify known duty and accepted limitations, but it should not rely on an unsupported user profile or assumed fault-free alternative assembled from another market’s brochure and a historical promotion.
Compare documented duty with a weaker private label
Consider a company-return A3 with attributable relevant servicing beside a privately described proposal whose history and current findings remain unclear. The second label alone does not establish a better starting state. Examine both and retain objects and completed preparation before valuing the gap. If the company car needs a defined handover operation, obtain applicable scope rather than assigning a standard fleet allowance. This example does not guarantee reliability from traceable records or reject private supply. It makes the actually supported history and condition more important than the category used in the advertisement.
Record the accepted duty and prepared scope
Preserve original identity, supported use, service sources, current findings, actual objects and limits in the purchase schedule. A different company-return VIN does not inherit the first file because its category is similar. Reconfirm control, equipment, history and condition before another proposal is accepted. The conclusion may support the saving, require accountable preparation or favour another examined car. It should remain defensible after broad assumptions about business users and future resale are removed, without treating company ownership or lease return as independent proof of legal authority, full maintenance, complete condition or every later vehicle outcome.
